Meet the Board of Directors
President Sterling Trout
Born & raised in Kanab, Utah and graduated from Kanab High School in 1998. Sterling graduated from Dixie State College in 2005. He transferred to Southern Utah University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and criminal justice. Returned to SUU to complete his master’s degree in forensic science
Sterling works for the Kane County Sheriff’s office at the Kane County Jail, observing inmate behavior by watching for criminal activity or harmful behaviors. Sterling joined KCAP In February of 2022. Elected President February 2024.
Vice President Brian Trout
Born & raised on Los Angles, CA in the 1940’s, the eldest of two children. He graduated from SouthGate high School, attended a LA Community College, earning a degree in engineering. Worked for North American/Rockwell as a design engineer. Marries 63 years to the girl next door, Father of one daughter & two sons, he has 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren & a great/great grandchild.
Brian has lived in Kanab with his family for 47 years. A professional cabinet maker and provider of custodial services to local businesses , Employed by the LDS Church as a custodian, Kaibab Industries as an engineer, SW Center Mental Health case manager, and at New Frontiers for Families as an employment specialist. Brain continues to serve the community today volunteering at the Family History Center and joined KCAP in May of 2023, elected Vice President February of 2024.
Founder of KCAP & Secretary Sandy Kerr
Sandy has lived in Kanab for 29 years. She has over 40 years’ experience as a social worker/ victim advocate. She has worked for Ventura County, CA Social Services, Utah Division of Child and Family Services, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kane County Attorney’s Office.
Founder of PATH, Program for Assistance to the Transient Homeless, Sandy wanted a program to assist the citizens of Kane County in financial crisis, thus Founding KCAP in 2016.
Director Chris Jasinski
Moved to Kanab in 2012 to work in animal care at Best Friends. My favorite thing about Kane County is how quiet and beautiful it is. I enjoy reading, hiking and listening to podcasts.
Chris joined the KCAP Board in May of 2023 and quickly volunteered to Chair the Fundraising Committee.
Director Julie Brown
Julie Brown is a dedicated wife and mother of five, proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren. With over 20 years of experience in education, specializing in special education, she has also served as a family advocate and champion for children’s mental health. Beyond her professional roles, Julie finds fulfillment in her church and community service. She enjoys traveling and engaging in meaningful conversations, cherishing every opportunity to connect with others.

Treasurer Kristi Bundrick
A Kanab area resident for over 20 years and currently works for Utah Courts as a Juvenile Probation Officer. Previously worked at Utah Department of Workforce Services and Arizona Child Protective Services. Kristi has a teaching certification in Utah.
Founder of PATH, Program for Assisting Transient & Homeless, Kristi has been a board member since the onset of KCAP in 2016. She currently serves KCAP as the social media Director and Treasurer.
Founder of KCAP, Director Will Leonard – Resigned April 2024
Born in New Mexico and grew up in Wyoming. In his 30’s, he felt called to Nevada where he met his wife. Together they moved to St. George, Utah. Will owned/operated St. Glass & Mirror becoming well known for his expertise and excellence in the construction industry.
Will, a talented musician & singer served the Calvary Chapel St. George as Worship Leader for many years. He has a love for missionary work and spreading the word of God. Will & his wife, Roxanne have traveled to many far way places giving support to the workers living full time in various countries around the world.
Relocating to Kanab in 2015, Will is the Pastor of Calvary Chapel Kanab.
Betty Colston – Resigned from Board 6/30/2024 Continues as Advisor
Betty Colston is a Business Administrative Consultant & Certified Pro Advisor for QuickBooks Accounting Software. She has served all industries including non-profit organizations. Betty has 25 years of public speaking and parliamentary rules experience & teaching others.
She Served as the President of Symphony of the Canyons for six years and their Treasurer for 12 years. She became President of KCAP when IRS qualified the organization with Non-Profit Status.
Her hobbies are Crafts, Square dancing, and ballroom dancing.
Betty serves as an Advisor to the Board for Financial, Non-Profit Law and Parliamentary Rules.
